Our vineyards spread on more than 240Ha and span across 11 villages in the North-west of the Bekaa Valley. This region, also known as the City of Sun, is home to the famous temple of Bacchus, a testament to the area’s rich history of winemaking that dates back over 2000 years.
Today, Couvent Rouge’s vineyards are known for their exceptional quality and organic certification, with a commitment to sustainable agriculture and a deep respect for the land. The vineyards are located between 1000 and 2400 meters above sea level, making them some of the highest in the world.
The unique terroir of Deir El Ahmar, with its perfect sun exposure and little rain precipitation, combined with the drops in temperature between day and night, creates a perfect environment for growing grapes of the highest quality. The soil is also ideal, with red soil in the lower altitude vineyards. A mix of clay and limestone that provides the perfect balance of nutrients, for most of the vineyards. And gravel for the higher-altitude vineyards.
Couvent Rouge’s commitment to organic farming means that the grapes are grown without the use of harmful chemicals, ensuring that the final product is not only of the highest quality but also environmentally sustainable.
The result of this exceptional location and commitment to sustainable agriculture and wine making is wines that are rich in flavor, with a unique character that reflects the terroir of Deir El Ahmar.
